Research access tooling: score lab-page legibility and flag cold-email patterns that get ignored before students waste months.
LabMap is my Social Consciousness anchor: tooling for who gets access to become someone who builds or uses the other four systems.
Faculty lab pages assume insider vocabulary; LabMap scores legibility, flags pressure language in cold emails, and suppresses mentor cohort stats below n=5 so placement data does not deanonymize students.

LabMap is a GCSP reflective capstone distilled from MESAUSC MESA mentoring since 2024. LegibilityScore validation, compose guardrails, mentor privacy tests, and placement export round-trips are real (13 Vitest + 4 Playwright axe tests). The 9-lab sample index and placement rates are illustrative, not live USC data.
Since 2024 I mentor MESA students on papers, cold emails, and talks. Most have the ability; they lack a map. Faculty-dense lab pages and opaque placement folklore waste months I lost my freshman year.
ClinRad-Bench through StandardsLint each optimize discovery for people already inside labs with budgets and standards vocabulary. LabMap asks who never reaches that starting line.
A lab page written for postdocs reads as gatekeeping to a sophomore who does not know what PDR means. LegibilityScoreJargon lexicon with plain-language rewrites in tests scores that gap before a student spends a month chasing the wrong vocabulary.
Compose guardrails catch entitlement and desperation patterns that get emails ignored. Mentor aggregates suppress below n=5MIN_COHORT_SIZE_FOR_AGGREGATE: returns null, no per-student fields so a placement rate chart never exposes one person's outcome.
LabMap is the most meta repo in the portfolio: a tool for accessing the tools of discovery. Evaluation (ClinRad), economics (BenchHost), procedure (HotFire), standards (StandardsLint), and access (LabMap) are one Grand Challenge story told across five mindsets.
By LabMap I understood the Grand Challenge wider, not narrower. Access equity is upstream of every other engineering tool in this chain. Faculty-dense lab pages waste months students cannot afford to lose.
